Diamondbacks put Jake Lamb on the disabled list, start Yasmany Tomas at third base

After a spring training filled with reports about how bad he looked at third base Yasmany Tomas is making his MLB debut at the position tonight, as the Diamondbacks placed regular third baseman Jake Lamb on the disabled list with a stress reaction in his left foot.

Tomas began the season at Triple-A, but was called up last week despite the Diamondbacks not having a clear place for him to play. Now he’ll likely see plenty of action at third base, assuming the $68.5 million pickup from Cuba doesn’t look like a total mess there.

It’s tough timing for Lamb, who was off to a great start by hitting .414 with a 1.204 OPS through 10 games after struggling as a rookie last season.
