Jesse Hahn might miss next start due to blister

A’s right-hander Jesse Hahn made an early exit from his start Saturday against the Royals with a blister on his pitching hand and it sounds like he may miss a turn in Oakland’s rotation. Via Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle

Hahn probably won’t throw his next bullpen session because his right middle finger split open last night. Whatever’s next for him is entirely up to the training staff, but he probably wouldn’t miss more than one start. Melvin specifically noted that the A’s don’t want this to be a recurring issue for Hahn.

Jesse Chavez came through with 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief Saturday after Hahn departed and could be asked to temporarily fill his rotation spot. Hahn, 25, boasts a 2.12 ERA and 0.94 WHIP through 17 innings this season for the Athletics. He registered a 3.07 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across 73 1/3 innings last season for the Padres.
