The Yankees are 3-6 and his replacement at shortstop, Didi Gregorius, is hitting .172, but Derek Jeter is just fine in retirement.
During an interview with SiriusXMRadio in which he was promoting the Players Tribune website, Jeter said: “To be honest with you, I don’t miss it at all.”
And when asked about the Yankees’ chances of turning things around and contending for the AL East title, Jeter replied:
I really can’t give you an answer but, you know, the AL East has always been a tough division. I’m sure it will continue to be tough. But I have no clue. I really have not watched.
Jeter chose not to attend Opening Day at Yankee Stadium, but he figures to be around when the Yankees start to retire some of the numbers of his ex-teammates.
