Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts hurt his right knee when he slipped rounding third base Monday night and now he’s headed for an MRI exam, the team announced.

Brock Holt is starting at shortstop for today’s game against Stephen Strasburg and the Nationals.

After struggling for much of his rookie season Bogaerts is off to a great start this year, hitting .433 with two steals and more walks (4) than strikeouts (3) through seven games.
