Groin injury keeps Seth Smith out of the Mariners’ lineup


Seth Smith went 3-for-3 with three extra-base hits in his Mariners debut, but he was out of the lineup Tuesday and Wednesday with a strained groin muscle.

Seattle has Thursday off and manager Lloyd McClendon indicated to Greg Johns of that he hopes to have Smith available again Friday versus the A’s. However, because Oakland is slated to start a left-hander it’s possible Smith would sit anyway.
