Cody Ross, released by the Diamondbacks on Saturday, has already found a new home …
— Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) April 7, 2015
Rosenthal says the A’s only have to pay Ross a pro-rated MLB-minimum salary. Arizona will cover nearly all of the money still remaining on his contract — an $8.5 million salary for 2015 and $1 million buyout for 2016.
Ross batted just .268/.322/.378 over 570 plate appearances in his two years with the Diamondbacks.
The 34-year-old is going to function as a utility outfielder and bench bat for Oakland.
