Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw took an Andy Parrino soft line drive to the lower left side of his face in the third inning of Friday afternoon’s Cactus League match-up with the Athletics. There was a runner on first with one out in the bottom of the third inning.

Kershaw was tended to by the team trainer and stayed in the game. Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports that Kershaw lost part of a tooth but was otherwise fine. It was a scary moment for Dodgers fans and baseball fans in general.

Kershaw went five innings, allowing one run on three hits while walking none and striking out four. Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports reported that Kershaw threw additional pitches in the bullpen after he was taken out.

Through 13 1/3 spring innings, Kershaw has allowed three runs (2.03 ERA) on 10 hits with a 12/4 K/BB ratio.
