Braves release infielder Tyler Pastornicky

Back in January the Braves dropped Tyler Pastornicky from the 40-man roster and now they’ve released the 25-year-old infielder.

Pastornicky was once lined up to be Atlanta’s starting shortstop, but he hit just .243 with two homers and a .608 OPS in 124 career games for the Braves with similarly underwhelming numbers in the minors.

Andrelton Simmons is obviously entrenched as the Braves’ long-term shortstop now and at best Pastornicky projects as a utility man.
