More pitcher casualties. At least potentially. The Mets have announced that lefty Josh Edgin will undergo an MRI on his left elbow.
Edgin is dealing with discomfort and diminished velocity. He told reporters this morning that, unlike last year when he experienced lower velocity, this year it’s due to discomfort, not lack of conditioning. The Mets are hoping it’s just dead arm. Edgin is supposed to be the Mets’ top lefty out of the pen, so if he’s lost, it’s bad news.
It’s almost as if the Mets nickel and dime approach to the bullpen this offseason could have some negative consequences.
