D-Backs manager Chip Hale selects Josh Collmenter as Opening Day starter

Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale has announced that Josh Collmenter will start on Opening Day, per the team’s Twitter account. It will be Collmenter’s first career Opening Day start, and he will become the club’s third different Opening Day starter in as many seasons.

Collmenter, 29, has pitched both out of the bullpen and out of the rotation for the D-Backs, but he served almost exclusively as a starter last season. He compiled a 3.46 ERA with a 115/39 K/BB ratio in 179 1/3 innings.
