Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista was a late scratch before Friday afternoon’s Grapefruit League exhibition against the Orioles due to right hamstring tightness. It was rainy, so the Blue Jays didn’t want to risk the conditions exacerbating a small issue.
Manager John Gibbons isn’t worried about his slugger, saying, “He’ll be fine,” per Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi.
Bautista has a single and an RBI in three at-bats so far this spring. The 34-year-old is looking to improve upon last year’s productive .928 OPS, 35 home runs, and 103 RBI in 673 plate appearances.
