Chris Capuano the favorite to win final spot in Yankees’ rotation

Chad Jennings of the Lohud Yankees Blog reports that left-hander Chris Capuano is the favorite to win the final spot in the Yankees’ starting rotation. The club has a number of candidates who will compete for the job during the spring, including young arms and some veteran relievers, but Jennings expects Capuano to win the job.

Capuano, 36, posted a 4.25 ERA with a 55/19 K/BB ratio in 65 2/3 innings after coming over to the Yankees in July after being released by the Red Sox. He had been pitching out of the bullpen in Boston, but was inserted into the Yankees’ rotation at the end of July.
