According to Mike Perchick of WAPT, the Red Sox and right-hander Rick Porcello have avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $12.5 million contract.
Porcello was acquired from the Tigers in December for outfielder Yoenis Cespedes. The 26-year-old earned $8.5 million last season while posting a career-best 3.43 ERA and 15 wins to go along with a 129/41 K/BB ratio over a career-high 204 2/3 innings.
Because Porcello was a Super Two player, he was arbitration-eligible for the fourth time this winter. He’s currently due to hit free agency after the 2015 season.
