Phillies claim Jordan Danks off waivers from White Sox

Dropped from the 40-man roster by the White Sox last week, outfielder Jordan Danks has been claimed off waivers by the Phillies.

Danks, whose brother John Danks is in the White Sox’s starting rotation, projects as a potential backup outfielder in Philadelphia.

He’s hit just .227 with eight homers and a .629 OPS in 180 games as a big leaguer through age 27 and hasn’t been a whole lot better in the minors recently, but Danks can play all three outfield spots and was once regarded as a solid prospect.
