An American League executive told Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe that free agent pitcher Alexi Ogando’s medical records “don’t look great”. As a result, Ogando is expected to settle for a minor league deal.
For what it’s worth, Ogando’s agent Larry Reynolds objects to the executive’s characterization of his client, per Charlie Wilmoth and Tim Dierkes of MLB Trade Rumors.
Ogando, 31, suffered a sprained UCL in his right elbow last June, ending his season. He had compiled a 6.84 ERA and a 22/15 K/BB ratio in 25 innings of relief prior to the injury.
