Willie Bloomquist will test his surgically-repaired knee soon

Mariners utilityman Willie Bloomquist tweeted that he has been given the thumbs-up from his doctor to do some light jogging when the calendar flips to January. Bloomquist underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in August.

Bloomquist is expected to be ready for spring training. The 37-year-old veteran is entering the final year of his two-year, $5.8 million contract with the Mariners. Bloomquist batted .278/.297/.346 in 139 plate appearances leading up to his injury.
