CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman writes that the Marlins have signed infielder Scott Sizemore to a minor league contract. Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish first mentioned that a deal was likely to get done.

Sizemore turns 30 in April and has appeared in just eight games at the major league level since the the 2011 season. He missed all of 2012 after tearing the ACL in his left knee and appeared in just two games in 2013 before tearing the very same ligament. The Yankees brought Sizemore up for six games this past season, but he spent the majority of the year in Triple-A and batted .266/.329/.433 with seven home runs and 41 RBI over 81 games.

Sizemore has extensive experience between second base and third base and even played some first base this season, so he could have a chance to make the Marlins as a utility infielder in the spring.
