UPDATE: According to Andy Martino of the New York Daily News, Jim Duquette of MLB Network Radio said on Mets Hot Stove on SNY that up to six teams are interested in Gee. The Giants are among them. Morosi writes that Rockies and Twins are also in the mix.
10:09 p.m. ET: We heard earlier this week that the Mets were “aggressively shopping” right-hander Dillon Gee and FOX Sports’ Jon Morosi reports that they are in discussions with the Rangers about a potential trade.
Gee, who is from Texas, owns a 3.91 ERA over 103 starts and three relief appearances in the majors. The 28-year-old is projected to earn around $5 million next season via arbitration and is under team control through 2016.
The return is unlikely to be significant, as Gee is more of a back-end starter, but moving his salary could enable the Mets to do some other things.
