Report: Jason Hammel close to signing with the Cubs

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that pitcher Jason Hammel is nearing a deal to return to the Cubs. At the moment, there are no details about the length or value of the deal, but we’ll update you as soon as those figures are known.

Hammel, 32, posted a combined 3.47 ERA with a 158/44 K/BB ratio in 176 1/3 innings between the Cubs and Athletics. He was sent to the Athletics in early July along with Jeff Samardzija in the trade that sent Addison Russell, Dan Straily, and Billy McKinney to Chicago.

On Monday, the Brewers unveiled a familiar logo and new jerseys to help celebrate their 50th anniversary as a franchise. They kickstarted it with a video:

Then they showed various members of the club, including Ryan Braun and Keston Hiura, modeling their new uniforms, which featured the familiar ball-in-mitt logo.

The Brewers are not the only team to to back to a classic. The Padres are bringing back the brown as well. Two very good choices.
