Yankees still retaining interest in Chase Headley

Recent reports had indicated that the Yankees “cooled” on free agent third baseman Chase Headley, but Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that they “remain strong” on him.

With Hanley Ramirez off the market, Headley is the top free agent at the hot corner and is expected to receive a four-year deal when all is said and done. Along with the Yankees, the Giants and Marlins have also shown interest in Headley’s services.

Though Headley, 30, struggled with the Padres, he turned things around when he was traded to the Yankees in late July last season. In 224 plate appearances in the Bronx, Headley hit .262/.371/.398 with six home runs and 17 RBI while playing solid defense.
