Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle has the news …
A source tells me the #Athletics have acquired Ike Davis from the #Pirates for international slot money. It’s strictly a move for depth.

Davis was designated for assignment by the Bucs a couple of days ago to open up a 40-man roster spot for top pitching prospect Jameson Taillon, who is now protected from selection in the Rule 5 Draft. Davis, 27, batted .235/.343/.378 in 397 plate appearances this past season for Pittsburgh. The first baseman is still trying to recapture the power stroke that saw him hit 32 home runs in 2012 with the Mets.
