Indians acquire Charles Brewer from the Diamondbacks

Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the Indians have acquired right-hander Charles Brewer from the Diamondbacks in exchange for cash. Scott Barnes was designated for assignment to open up a spot on Cleveland’s 40-man roster.

Brewer has logged only six career innings at the major league level — all in 2013 — and he owns a rough 5.29 ERA in 399 2/3 career innings at Triple-A. The 26-year-old right-hander is doubtful to make a positive impact for the Tribe. He’ll act as organizational rotation depth.
