After a stint in Japan, slugger Wily Mo Pena is looking to return to the U.S. He is now a free agent and the Twins are potentially interested in signing the 32-year-old, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Pena slugged 54 home runs and knocked in in 182 runs in three seasons, two with the Fukoka Softbank Hawks and another with the Orix Buffaloes. In 1,845 plate appearances in the major leagues between 2002-11, Pena batted .250/.303/.445 and swatted 84 home runs.
Here’s a wonderful highlight reel of Pena dingers from his 2014 season with the Buffaloes.
