The Mariners have claimed reliever Edgar Olmos off waivers from the Marlins, Bob Dutton of The News Tribune reports. Teams are scurrying to set their 40-man rosters ahead of the December 11 Rule 5 Draft, so the Mariners are among a handful of teams making waiver claims today.
Olmos, 24, made his major league debut in 2013 with the Marlins but has logged only five innings total in the show. This past season, he started at Double-A Jacksonville and earned a promotion to Triple-A New Orleans towards the end of May. Combined, the lefty finished the season with a 4.06 ERA with a 60/30 K/BB ratio over 77 2/3 innings.
