Two minor leaguers suspended after violating drug program

Two minor leaguers have been suspended after violating the drug program: free agent Luis Morel is gone for 72 games after having been caught using steroids (a metabolite of Stanozolol), and Giants minor league pitcher Adalberto Mejia is out 50 games after having been caught using stimulants (Sibutramine).

Morel, 21, logged 24 1/3 innings with the Orioles’ Dominican Summer League team, finishing with a 4.44 ERA and a 12/12 K/BB ratio.

Mejia, 21, spent his 2014 season with Double-A Richmond. Over 108 innings spanning 21 starts and a relief appearance, the left-hander posted a 4.67 ERA with an 82/31 K/BB ratio.
