Nationals nearing a deal with Kevin Frandsen

The Nationals are nearing a deal with utilityman Kevin Frandsen to avoid arbitration, James Wagner of the Washington Post reports. Frandsen is eligible for arbitration for the third and final time and would have been expected to take home $1.2 million according to the projections from MLB Trade Rumors.

Frandsen, 32, hit just .259/.299/.309 in 236 plate appearances for the Nationals this past season, but he wore many hats. Frandsen logged 141 1/3 defensive innings in left field, 121 2/3 innings at third base, 84 at second base, and 58 at first base.
