Jon Lester’s agent reportedly met with Red Sox officials Wednesday for an “extended period of time.”
The tour will continue to the north side of Chicago.
Bruce Levine of 670 The Score reports that Lester and his agent are scheduled to visit Wrigley Field for formal meetings at some point next week. It will be a reunion of sorts with Theo Epstein, the current Cubs president and former Red Sox general manager.
Lester is said to be drawing legitimate free agent interest from six teams after posting a spectacular 2.46 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 220/48 K/BB ratio in 219 2/3 innings this past season between Boston and Oakland. The left-hander turns 31 years old in January.
