Hanley Ramirez rejects Dodgers’ qualifying offer

As expected Hanley Ramirez has rejected the $15.3 million qualifying offer from the Dodgers, according to Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times.

Ramirez is still free to re-sign with the Dodgers if he wants, but if he signs elsewhere they will receive draft pick compensation and his new team will forfeit a draft pick.

Ramirez is apparently open to playing a position other than shortstop in an effort to increase his market value, which makes sense given that his bat has always been his primary asset and at age 31 his shortstop defense is questionable at best.
