Mets aren’t interested in Torii Hunter

The Mets are not one of the seven teams reported to have interest in free agent outfielder Torii Hunter, per Newsday’s Marc Carig. They could certainly use another offensively-potent corner outfielder, but the 39-year-old is not in GM Sandy Alderson’s plans.

All three of Hunter’s triple-slash stats dipped compared to his 2013 output, but the veteran was still productive, hitting¬†.286/.319/.446 with 17 home runs and 83 RBI in 586 plate appearances. Meanwhile, the Mets finished in the bottom-third of the majors in terms of OPS from their outfielders — their aggregate .683 OPS ranked 24th of 30.
