How do you stop the Royals’ speed dead in its tracks? Make it difficult to gain traction, or at least that’s what manager Ned Yost thinks. Per Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Yost thinks the Giants’ grounds crew at AT&T Park used a little more water than normal on the infield dirt.
Yost said, “Yes, I thought it was a little extra wet around first (base). [Mike Moustakas] dove back into first base and he came up extremely muddy. I thought that it was a little damper than normal, yeah.”
If there’s anything going on, Giants manager Bruce Bochy is denying having any knowledge of it. He said, “I’m being honest. I didn’t see it.”
