Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina left Game 2 of the NLCS after sharply hitting into a 4-6-3 double play in the bottom of the sixth inning. Molina struck the ball well, but did not even bother to run as he was in immediate discomfort. Tony Cruz took Molina’s spot behind the plate to begin the seventh inning.
It’s not yet known exactly what the issue is, though it appeared to be on the left side. Once the Cardinals provide an update, we’ll pass it along.
Update (10:35 PM ET): It’s a strained left oblique for Molina, per MLB.com’s Jenifer Langosch.
