Pirates manager Clint Hurdle had hip replacement surgery

It was painful just to watch Pirates manager Clint Hurdle limp around during the team’s Wild Card Game loss to the Giants and today the 57-year-old underwent right hip replacement surgery.

Hurdle struggled with chronic arthritis in his hip for most of the year, but chose to wait until after the Pirates’ season was over before going under the knife.

He’s expected to make a full recovery, although Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette notes that Hurdle may take a break from some team-related offseason activities.
