Royals tie AL Wild Card Game in bottom of the ninth

We’ve got a brand new ballgame in Kansas City.

The host Royals appeared dead in the water heading into the bottom of the eighth inning, trailing the A’s 7-3 with Oakland starter Jon Lester having settled into a groove. But the Royals eked out three runs in the eighth on three steals, two singles, and a wild pitch from A’s reliever Luke Gregerson. And they just completed the comeback on a sacrifice fly against A’s closer Sean Doolittle in the bottom of the ninth.

The American League Wild Game is all tied up at 7-7 as we move to extra innings. Oh baby. What a way to kick off the 2014 postseason.
