As announced on the official Twitter account of the Atlanta Braves …
Braves hitting coach Greg Walker officially informed the club today that he is stepping down from his current position with the organization

This is basically an “I’ll quit before you fire me” situation, as David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution notes that Walker was likely to be dismissed Wednesday during Fredi Gonzalez’s end-of-season meeting with club officials. Atlanta averaged the second-fewest runs (3.54) in MLB this year, in front of only the Padres.
Walker was hired by the Braves in 2012. He served as hitting coach for the White Sox from 2003-2011.
