B.J., Justin Upton make history with homer, outfield assist each

Per the Elias Sports Bureau, via the Braves Twitter, B.J. and Justin Upton became the first pair of brother teammates to each homer and record an outfield assist in the same game.

In Saturday night’s match-up against the Phillies, B.J. hit a solo home run in the top of the third inning to break a 1-1 tie, and Justin hit a two-run home run in the seventh to break a 2-2 tie.

Justin threw out Chase Utley at home on Ryan Howard’s single to left field in the fourth inning. The play was reviewed for a potential violation of rule 7.13, but the ruling was upheld. B.J. threw out Wil Nieves at home following a Ben Revere single, ending the fifth inning.

The Braves ultimately won 4-2. The Mets won and the Marlins lost, so now only the Braves and Mets are tied for the best record in the NL East at 78-83.
