Charlie Morton may need hernia surgery

Charlie Morton missed a big chunk of the season with a sports hernia, was activated a couple of weeks ago and was shut right back down after he continued to feel pain. Now surgery may be in his future, reports Bill Brink.

That stinks for him, but to be honest, the Pirates got a lot of great starts from Vance Worley in Morton’s absence, and it shouldn’t be too big a falloff for the playoffs. Assuming, of course, the Pirates play more than just a wild card game.

Even if Morton has surgery, he should be ready to go for spring training.
