Cubs demote Edwin Jackson to the bullpen

Edwin Jackson returned from the disabled list with a disastrous start Friday, failing to make it out of the first inning against the Dodgers, and now the Cubs have demoted him to the bullpen rather than give him one final start.

Jackson was terrible last season after signing a four-year, $52 million contract as a free agent and he’s been much worse this year. Since signing the deal he’s started 58 games for the Cubs with a 14-33 record and 5.60 ERA.

Chicago owes him $11 million in 2015 and $11 million in 2016.
