Hanley Ramirez has missed back-to-back starts with a strained right elbow, but he’s back in the lineup tonight for the opener of a four-game series against the Cubs at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
Ramirez originally felt something in his elbow on a throw on Monday and was scratched from Tuesday’s lineup after he experienced renewed soreness during warm-ups. However, he was cleared to return tonight after he made it through his usual pre-game routine without incident.
Ramirez, 30, is batting .277/.362/.444 with 13 home runs, 69 RBI, and 14 stolen bases over 120 games this season. In addition to his recent elbow issue, the impending free agent has missed time with shoulder, calf, and oblique injuries.
