George Springer is unsure if he’ll play again this season

George Springer’s impressive rookie year was halted by a quadriceps injury in mid-July and the Astros’ power-hitting outfielder remains on the disabled list long after he was expected to return, but he’s still hoping to play again this season.

Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports that Springer ran the bases Sunday for the first time since his minor-league rehab assignment was called off following a setback in early August.

Springer told Drellich that he “felt good” afterward, but still isn’t sure if pushing things to return for a few games at the end of the season is worth risking another setback.

Springer got off to a slow start after being called up from Triple-A in mid-April amid tons of fanfare, but then smacked 20 homers in a 59-game stretch before the injury.
