Evan Gattis won’t return from strep throat this weekend

Braves catcher Evan Gattis missed his fifth straight game today due to strep throat and David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that he’ll remain out of the lineup through at least tomorrow.

Gattis hasn’t played since last Sunday. He was originally expected to return as the designated hitter this weekend in Texas, but he’s not close to 100 percent yet.

The Braves lost their second straight game to the Rangers today and now sit just two games above .500 at 75-73, putting them 3 1/2 games behind the Pirates for the second Wild Card spot in the National League with 14 to play. They have scored just 28 runs through 11 games this month and are hitting .194 as a team.
