The Yankees suffered a scare last night when Chase Headley was hit in the mouth by a Jake McGee pitch, but he’s been cleared to play and has rejoined the Yankees, according to Brendan Kuty of NJ.com. Concussion tests came back negative, so the only hurdle left is to see how he’ll respond to physical activity.

Headley struggled for most of the season while with the Padres, but has hit better since joining the Yankees on July 22. In 174 plate appearances with the Yankees, he owns a .253/.356/.373 with four home runs and 13 RBI. Headley is earning $10.525 million this season and will be eligible for free agency heading into 2015.
