Johnny Cueto threw eight shutout innings, but only because Jay Bruce robbed a homer


I already wrote about Johnny Cueto’s brilliance this afternoon, which included eight shutout innings against the Cardinals to lower his ERA to 2.15.

He also needed a little help from the defense, as right fielder Jay Bruce preserved the shutout in what turned out to be a 1-0 victory by robbing Cardinals first baseman Matt Adams of a home run:
