Evan Drellich reports that the Astros are said to be interested in managerial candidates who have been around the block before:
Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow said Tuesday that although his criteria was not 100 percent firm, the organization is leaning toward hiring a manager with prior experience as either a big league manager or big league bench coach.
Of course Bo Porter was a bench coach in Arizona before taking the third base coaching job in Washington, but let’s leave that aside for a moment.
Drellich notes that the Astros already have a list of candidates, but that it’s by no means final. They’re not going to wait until the season is over to get really moving on this, though it will likely be after the season when a permanent replacement for Porter is announced.
