It seems like we’ve heard about more Masahiro Tanaka simulated games than we’ve seen actual Masahiro Tanaka games this season. But such is injury rehab for a high-profile player.
Tanaka threw about 44 pitches in a simulated game today. It covered three innings with rests in between. It apparently went well, though so did the last one and after that we heard that he had fatigue in his elbow, so I guess we’ll see.
The real purpose of all of this, of course, is to see if he can avoid Tommy John surgery for his partially-torn UCL.
