A’s activate Nick Punto from the disabled list

Surely this will turn things around for the free-falling A’s: Nick Punto is off the disabled list after missing the past month with a strained hamstring.

Punto hit just .207 with two homers and a .580 OPS in 64 games before the injury, but he remains a versatile, standout defender at age 36 and if nothing else the rest of the A’s seemed to like having him around.

He figures to see most of his action at second base, in place of the similarly light-hitting Eric Sogard.
