Carlos Quentin might waive his no-trade clause

Jon Heyman reports that Padres outfield Carlos Quentin may be open to waiving his no-trade clause.

Quentin received complete no-trade protection on the three-year, $27 million contract extension that he signed in July 2012. But with the Padres going no place, Heyman says Quentin would be willing to waive it to go to a contender.

Quentin is struggling mightily this year and has played in only 26 games — and he hasn’t played in as many as 90 games since 2011 — but he still may intrigue a contender looking for some right-handed pop.
