Rougned Odor has a shoulder injury

Because the Rangers’ injury news apparently never stops, now infielder Rougned Odor will be examined further by team doctors today after leaving Sunday’s game with a shoulder injury.

Odor hurt his shoulder sliding back into first base on a pickoff attempt and has been diagnosed with a sprain for now, leaving him day-to-day until the Rangers find out more.

Texas’ roster has repeatedly been wrecked by injuries all season and that continued yesterday, as the Rangers announced that first baseman/outfielder Mitch Moreland will miss three months following ankle surgery.

Odor, who was called up from Double-A well ahead of schedule at age 20 because of injuries to Jurickson Profar and Donnie Murphy, has hit .290 with two homers and a .793 OPS through 24 games.

Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports that reliever Shawn Tolleson is retiring from baseball. The right-hander experienced a setback in his recovery from Tommy John surgery last week.

Tolleson, who turns 31 years old on Saturday, last pitched in the majors in 2016. He had two very good years out of the bullpen for the Rangers in 2014-15, posting an aggregate 2.88 ERA with 145 strikeouts and 45 walks across 144 innings.

Tolleson signed a one-year deal with the Rays in January 2017 before undergoing Tommy John surgery several months later. The Rangers inked him to a minor league contract in December 2017, but he wasn’t able to work his way back.
