Some good news here for the 29-28 Yankees.

According to MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch, veteran outfielder Carlos Beltran will meet up with the Yankees on Thursday in Oakland and could be activated from the disabled list for Thursday afternoon’s series-finale against the A’s.

Beltran has been hitting and fielding in games at extended spring training for the past several days and has experienced no major discomfort in his right elbow. He’s been on the shelf since being diagnosed with painful bone spurs in mid-May. The initial worry was the Beltran might need surgery to correct the problem, but he’s going to try to play through it.

Beltran was batting .234/.286/.430 with five home runs and 15 RBI over his first 33 games in pinstripes.

He signed a three-year, $45 million free agent contract with New York this past offseason.
