Motte wound up missing around 13 months to Tommy John surgery. He’ll be available out of the Cardinals’ bullpen for the first time since the 2012 postseason on Tuesday night against the Diamondbacks. The 31-year-old right-hander tossed 6 2/3 scoreless innings — striking out five and walking just one — on his minor league rehab assignment and should slide into a setup role behind Cardinals closer Trevor Rosenthal.
