Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez was hit in the hand with a fastball thrown by Giants starter Ryan Vogelsong. At the time, it looked like Ramirez may have suffered a serious injury, particularly with the way he reacted, by slamming his helmet down in frustration. But X-rays came back negative and he’s back in Friday’s starting lineup, batting third and playing shortstop against the Diamondbacks.
It’s welcome news for the Dodgers, who can ill afford to deal with an injury to another star player. Ramirez, who has played in 100 or more games just once dating back to 2011, enters Friday night’s action with an .888 OPS.
